The Art of Knowing When to Say No
Here's something we don't talk about enough: saying no is a skill.
In a small town like Kirkland Lake, we're all pulled in a hundred directions. Someone needs help. A project looks worthwhile. A friend asks for a favour. And most of us, we say yes.
But here's the thing—when we say yes to everything, we're really saying no to the things that matter most. No to time with family. No to rest. No to taking care of ourselves.
This fall, as the season slows down and the days get shorter, it's worth asking: what's one thing I can say no to? Not out of meanness, but out of good sense. Not out of laziness, but out of respect for what I can actually do well.
The people who matter most will understand. And the rest? Well, sometimes no is the kindest answer of all.
